Lyme disease is a growing threat in Canada, with the number of reported cases continuing to rise each year.

According to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, in 2016, 992 cases were reported. In 2017, that number jumped drastically to 2025 cases.

The illness is difficult to diagnose, as symptoms often mimic those of the flu. If left untreated, the disease can lead to heart disorders, arthritis, neurological disorders, and more.

What does the future look like for people who have been diagnosed with Lyme disease? What treatments are available to combat the debilitating disease?
