The Saskatchewan Roughriders are gearing up for Banjo Bowl by invading Winnipeg a little early.

The friendly rivalry between the Blue Bombers and Roughriders is usually good for some back and forth each year in anticipation of the Labour Day Classic (LDC) and Banjo Bowl.

The Roughriders have set up a billboard on Pembina Highway at Greencrest Avenue encouraging Winnipeggers to "Celebrate Saskatchewan Day" on September 9 - the date of this year's LDC rematch.

"This great rivalry is an important and historic part of our football season so we love to see the Riders spending money here, even in advance of the game," said Director of Communications and Media Relations Darren Cameron. "It all adds to the excitement of what, once again, promises to be a fantastic atmosphere and the most anticipated game of the season."

The Bombers are on a two-year win streak for the prairie rivalry and have won seven of the 13 match-ups. Tickets are still available, Cameron urges fans to get them before they are gone!

Right now, however, the Blue Bombers are focused on their upcoming game against the undefeated Edmonton Eskimos.
