Worship leader and Christian artist Jake Fretz is hoping people hear God's heart of reconciliation in his latest single.

"The heart behind 'Here Comes the Kingdom', it really began with a realization that I've spent most of my life focusing on inviting Jesus into my own life rather than accepting His invitation into His kingdom," says Fretz.

On top of being a Christian artist, Fretz is also a worship leader in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The single 'Here Comes the Kingdom' was released July 9, 2021.

"I've been trying to fit God-sized priorities into my little agenda. When I realized that I was missing His kingdom, this big cosmic story of God reconciling heaven and earth, it blew me away. This song is about calling us deeper into a relationship with Him."

Part of the message in his latest single is about reconciliation, between God and man, as well as between our fellow human beings.

"When we take part in God's kingdom, we see that His heart was always behind us having a diverse and unified kingdom. Reconciliation looks impossible, but we know that through Christ's death and resurrection, that He has authority over sin and every one of its symptoms."

Park Alliance Church in Portage la Prairie has been creating a relationship with the local community over the past few years, building a bridge of connection.

"One of the exciting things that we're getting to do as a church right now is, we've partnered with some local Indigenous communities, and they've invited us to take part in preserving their songs and stories in their language."

The church bought a plane so they can fly up into Northern communities to take part in this preservation of culture.

"It's a big honour that we get to step into reconciliation like this where it's our friends who are inviting us to be able to preserve their culture."
