Wednesday night and Thursday morning is now the wettest month this summer.

In just one night, the Winnipeg Airport saw 62.9 mm of rain while some areas of the city saw up to 70 mm.

It's the most rain Winnipeg has seen in a long time.

Wednesday night's rain totals exceed the entire total for July (41.1 mm) and August (31.8 mm) and fell just short of June's entire monthly total (65.1 mm).

According to Weatherlogics, this September is now the rainiest single month since June 2016 when 103.4 mm of rain fell throughout the month.

The rain also snaps a streak of drier than normal months which dates back to October 2017.

62.9 mm is also the sixth rainiest September day recorded, with records dating back to 1872.
