'Run to the Lord': Walk for Jesus calls Manitobans to action
Over a hundred Manitobans united at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, 85 Israel Asper Way, for the Walk for Jesus on Saturday afternoon. “The Walk for Jesus is to bring people together to feel unity, especially in this day where the world is so divided in so many areas," said Todd Sperber, the organizer of the event. Sperber continued, "We're just trying to bring hope, freedom, and love back into people's lives and into their homes." The walk followed a route with various stops along the way to share clean socks and water with people experiencing homelessness. The route included Waterfront Avenue, Higgins Avenue, Disraeli Avenue, the Exchange District, and the Portage and Main intersection. He continued, “Walking for Jesus is a notable, wonderful thing. For saved Bible-believing Christians, it’s a must to come out and let other people be attracted to the fact that Jesus saves and nobody else does." It's not how we fall, it's how we get back up, and we get back up by the Blood of the Lamb," said Fernando, an attendee, about the daily challenges of the Christian life. Other speakers issued a call to action and the need to fulfill the Great Commission. "Some people aren't going to accept our Lord, but we must share Him still," said Tamara. The day concluded with a sobering altar call and the need for all to turn to Jesus. "Run to the Lord before it's too late. He's not running away from you," shared George, an attendee.
