The Winnipeg Jets are officially out of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but that doesn't take away from how great the city was during the run.

Over the course of nine Whiteout street parties, the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) says there were no major incidents.

"I worked the majority of them," said Public Information Officer Jay Murray. "Really, Winnipeg has a lot to be proud of."

Murray says there were a few instances of public intoxication, but he says that is not uncommon for a crowd that size. The WPS had planned for all types of contingencies but believed Winnipeg fans would be well-behaved.

That includes two instances when the WPS had to shut down Portage and Main because of fans.

"Everyone was very respectful," Murray said about those closures.

He says 45 minutes after the closure, officers approached the fans and asked them if they could open up the road again.

"Everyone said 'yeah, absolutely,'" Murray said, laughing at how Canadian the fans sounded.

Murray says it felt like "a once in a career, or once in a lifetime opportunity," but hopes that he will have a chance to experience it again. He says fans would high-five and cheer with the police, and they felt very welcome at the Whiteout.
