Two young men are in custody after attempting to evade police.

On November 11, 2019, at approximately midnight, Central District general patrol officers observed a stolen vehicle being operated in the area of Portage Avenue Avenue and St Mary Avenue.

As officers began to follow the stolen vehicle, a second unit approached from the front, attempting to bring the vehicle to a stop at Broadway and Langside. The stolen vehicle accelerated and struck the front passenger side of the cruiser.

The stolen vehicle drove onto the sidewalk, around the cruiser car, and onto Broadway, striking a second cruiser car.

Two males fled from the stolen vehicle and were pursued by officers. One suspect discharged bear spray, making contact with two officers. He was located and arrested in the area of Broadway and Furby Street.

The second male was located in the 200 block of Furby Street where he refused to comply with officer's demands. As a result, the officer deployed his conducted energy weapon, making contact with the suspect who was then placed under arrest.

Both suspects were taken to the hospital as a precaution and released. Two officers were taken to the hospital and later released.

A 28-year-old male of Winnipeg and a 31-year-old male of Winnipeg have been arrested and remain in police custody.
