Tuesday, May 9

  • The Watoto Children’s Choir is coming to Altona Victory Family Church at 7:00 pm.
  • Morden Minor Soccer registration is from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at Morden Access Event Centre. Registration fee is $45.

Wednesday, May 10

  • A free education session on chronic illness and anxiety will be presented by the MS Society at 5:30 pm at Morden Friendship Centre. This session will discuss the challenges in recognising and seeking help when experiencing mental health difficulties in the context of Multiple Sclerosis as well as offering self-management techniques.   • A free session on folk dancing for all ages is being held at 7:00 pm at Morden Access Event Centre. Learn the Virginia Reel, Mexican Hat Dance, Maple Leaf Stomp and others. Contact Morden Recreation office to register.
  • A free concert featuring the Watoto children’s choir is taking place at 7:00 pm at Winkler Christian Faith Church, located on Pembina Avenue East. This will be a vibrant worship experience performed by a family of orphans from Uganda. Admission is free.

Thursday, May 11

  • Altona Senior Centre is hosting a waffle breakfast beginning at 8:30 am. Cost is $7.
  • The 2017 Manitoba Sunflower Queen pageant contestants invite you to a fundraising event at 7:00 pm at Altona Curling Club lounge, where a variety of vendors will be set up offering a variety of products. All proceeds from this event go to the local Build A Village charity.

Thursday to Saturday

  • The annual South Central Regional Library book sale is at Morden Access Event Centre. If you have books to donate, you can drop them off at your local library.
  • A bake sale and garage sale in support of orphans at Victorian Christian Academy in Kenya, is being held at 146 and 156 Aspen Bay in Winkler. Hours are noon to 8:00 pm Thursday and Friday, and 9:00 am to noon on Saturday. Tax receipts for donations of $10 and over will be available.

Friday, May 12

  • A Mother’s Day lunch is being held at Morden Activity Centre. Cost is $7.50 for the roast beef lunch which includes entertainment by the EMMS grade 5 choir. Call the Centre to reserve your spot.
  • The ladies auxiliary tea and bake sale is being held from 1:15 to 3:30 at Salem Home. Check out the silent auction items as well. Proceeds go to projects to enhance the quality of life for Salem Home residents.
  • Grace Valley Mennonite Academy is putting on an enchilada supper at Winkler Mennonite Church. The menu includes enchiladas, rice, beans, chips and pie, with admission by donation. Supper will be served from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. The church is located at 31 Willowdale Crescent.

Saturday, May 13

  • A Mother’s Day spring art show is being held at Emerson Community Complex. Hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. All artists from the Red River Valley are invited to display their work here, including larger pieces. A gift gallery will be set up offering many unique items perfect for Mother’s Day gift giving. There will also be workshops for kids and adults, music and delicious food options – like fresh cinnamon buns and biscotti, and an Italian buffet lunch.
  • A babysitters course will be held from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Morris School. Cost is $55. Register at Morris Rec office.

MOTHER'S DAY
