Churches and ministries are transitioning into their summer programming, but life doesn't get any less busy for the folks at Youth for Christ.

Spring programming is winding down, and at YFC that means a shift from regular to unique programming. This includes day camps, which are offered by Masterworks Dance Studio and the EDGE Skate Park.

"There [are] some unique summer opportunities throughout the soccer league, the drop-in ball hockey program as well as girls fitness," said Cliff Heide, Senior Ministry Supervisor at YFC Winnipeg. "Those are all programs that are unique to summer months where they do something different than the winter."

Heide says that some of the ministries also head outside and meet the kids where they are in their area. The EDGE Skate Park does this really well.

"The staff and volunteers actually visit local skate parks and put on events for kids to have opportunities to take trips around even the province and the city," Heide said. He also mentioned the soccer league, which moves from futsal inside to a grass pitch outside in local neighbourhoods.

"Cedarwood is a big deal in summer," Heide mentioned, saying that it's one of the most unique camps in Manitoba. They have even added a middle school week for the first time.

If you would like to volunteer with YFC during the summer, or think you might fit in as a staff member, Heide encourages you to check out yfcwinnipeg.ca for more information.
