Winnipeg police are asking the public to avoid a portion of the city's West End due to what they are calling a serious incident.

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) says while one situation has been resolved, another is ongoing.

Police are currently at Young and Sargent. Witnesses on social media have described police in the area with guns drawn.

Earlier the WPS were also in the city's North End. Police have not released many details at this time, but say they were called to the area of Salter Street and Bannerman Avenue at around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

It is unclear as to what they were investigating, but they now say that situation is over.
