A second arrest has been made by investigators in the murder of Jessie Robert Catterson.

Catterson, a 36-year-old from Winnipeg was found suffering from a stab wound on May 21, 2019 just before 10:00 p.m.

Emergency personnel had responded to a report of an injured male at a home on Flora Avenue. Upon locating Catterson, he was transported to hospital in critical condition and pronounced deceased.

As previously reported, the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) made an arrest in the case on June 26. A 36-year-old male from Winnipeg was charged with Second Degree Murder and detained in custody.

WPS now report that another male has been arrested in connection with the murder. A 25-year-old male from Winnipeg was arrested on August 4 for Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Weapon. He, too, was detained in custody.

Police say it is believed that the three men were known to each other, and that Catterson's death seems to have come as a result of a dispute that escalated into a stabbing. Following the incident, the two male suspects fled while the victim collapsed inside a nearby residence. At that time, 911 was contacted.
