It's Remembrance Day this weekend. Because Remembrance Day falls on a Saturday, it can cause a bit of confusion over the hours of operation. Here's your guide.
According to Manitoba's Remembrance Day Act, retail businesses are not allowed to operatore between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Remembrance Day. Businesses allowed to operate include professional health services, veterinary services, gas stations, or places with emergency vehicle repairs. Restaurants can remain open, but alcohol cannot be served until 1:00 p.m.
Shopping Malls
St. Vital Centre, Kildonan Place, CF Polo Park and Outlet Collection Winnipeg will be open on Saturday, November 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Grocery Stores
Most local grocery stores will be open on Saturday, November 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., but it varies by store. Check your local location.
City of Winnipeg
Winnipeg Transit
Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on Saturday, November 11. At 11:00 a.m., all Transit operators will pull over and stop their buses for one minute of silence.
Leisure Centres/Swimming Pools
All leisure centres will be closed on Saturday, November 11, including all indoor pools, with the expection of:
- Pan Am Pool (open 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
- Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex (open 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
Leisure Centres and indoor pools are open on Monday, November 13.
Libraries
All public library branches will be closed on Saturday, November 11 and Monday, November 13.
Recycling/Garbage Collection
Garbage, recycling and yard waste will be not be affected as Remembrance Day falls on a Saturday.
Civic Offices
All civic offices will be closed on Monday, November 13.
