A young Christian couple and their family are asking for continued prayers as they face a long road to recovery following a devastating collision.

Last week, Marcus and Carli Paetzold were involved in a serious collision on Lagimodiere Boulevard when their vehicle was rear-ended by a semi while they were sitting at a red light. The community has since rallied around the couple, offering prayers and support during this challenging time.

Emily Guenther, Carli’s cousin, started a GoFundMe fundraiser to assist with the mounting medical expenses. In a recent email update to CHVN, Guenther expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and shared a heartfelt prayer request list for the Paetzolds.

"I’m blown away with the reach the Go Fund Me has gotten and how many people will be able to follow along as their testimony develops," Guenther says. "It is such a comfort to be surrounded by so much prayer and support."

“Though they aren’t ready to share more specific details at this time, there have already been so many answers to prayer and absolute miracles that have occurred already. God has been so gracious to us all,” Guenther wrote.

The Paetzolds face a long road to recovery, Guenther says. Carli is experiencing extreme pain from her injuries, while Marcus is dealing with a serious concussion. Both need restful nights and encouragement to see progress in their recovery each day.

The family asks for continued prayers for:

  • Healing and recovery for Carli as she is experiencing extreme pain from her injuries.
  • Healing for Marcus’ serious concussion.
  • Restful nights of sleep for Marcus and Carli and their families.
  • That they would be encouraged and see progress in recovery each day.
  • God’s peace that surpasses understanding throughout the healing process

Guenther also extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has prayed, read their story, or contributed to their GoFundMe campaign. The outpouring of community support has been a source of strength for the Paetzolds as they navigate this difficult journey, she says.
