Headingley Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are investigating theft from community mailboxes.

More than 100 individual Canada Post community mailboxes were broken into overnight on July 22 - 23. The mailboxes were located in La Salle, Manitoba.

RCMP believe sensitive information could have been taken and are advising all those affected to protect themselves from possible identity theft. If you are affected, RCMP recommend:

  • Reporting your mailbox break-in to the Headingley RCMP and to Canada Post
  • Contacting your bank/financial institution and your credit card company
  • Putting a fraud alert on your credit reports by contacting the two national credit bureaus
  • Finally, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre

RCMP are looking for leads. If you saw something suspicious or know of a camera that would have been pointed at one of the mailboxes, please contact police at 204-888-0358.
