The first day of March will bring cold wind chill values, but the rest of the week will see above-normal temperatures for southern Manitoba, with most daytime highs reaching above 0 degrees and plenty of sunshine.

There is a 30 per cent chance of flurries on Monday afternoon and a high of -13. However, wind speeds of 40 km/h and gusts up to 60 in the afternoon will mean a wind chill of -25. That also brings with it a risk of frostbite.

But a warming trend begins overnight Monday, with temperatures rising to -1 by Tuesday morning. Environment Canada is currently calling for a high of 5 degrees Tuesday.

Wednesday might be the last we see of negative temperatures during the day for a while with a high of -1.

Overnight lows of -9 to 0 are expected for Wednesday through Saturday night.

The rest of the week is bringing plenty of sunshine and warmth with a high of 3 on Thursday. The weekend right now could see a high of 8 and 9 for Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The average daytime high is -5 and the average low is -15.
