Another hot day has prompted Environment Canada to issue warnings, watches and statements across Manitoba.

Southeastern Manitoba, including Winkler, Portage la Prairie, Selkirk, Steinbach and Winnipeg, is under a special weather statement. The temperatures and humidex values are expected to remain below the heat warning criteria for the weekend, but Environment Canada wants to remind people, especially with the Canada Summer Games taking place, to drink plenty of water and stay int he shade.

In addition, they expect thunderstorms to develop Saturday afternoon across much of southern Manitoba, and some may bexcome severe.

A heat warning was issued in northern Manitoba, covering Flin Flon, Gillam, Island Lake, Norway House, Shamattawa, The Pas and Thompson as a period of maximum daily temperatures near or exceeding 29C and minimum overnight lows near or exceeding 16C is underway. While tomorrow will bring some relief, it's expected to hit the 30 degree mark again shortly after.

Midwestern Manitoba is also under a watch for severe thunderstorms. Dauphn, Flin Flon, Grand Rapids, Swan River and The Pas can all expect to see some thunderstorm activity happening in their area.
