Canadian Mennonite University is hosting "Bach on the Bridge" tomorrow in honour of Bach's birthday.

Musicians from the CMU community will come together for two performances on the Marpeck Commons pedestrian bridge to celebrate the music of the famous composer Johann Sebastian Bach. The first is at 10:00 - 11:30 am, and the second is at 12:00 - 1:30 pm.

"(Bach's music) is very uplifting," said organizer Rose van der Hooft, who is a music instructor at CMU. "A lot of his music was based on dances of the time in the baroque period, so there is a lot of joy with his music."

Bach on the Bridge coincides with Bach on the Subways, an event where musicians around the world gather in subway tunnels and in public spaces to perform Bach's music for free.
