Two people are in custody in connection to a recent drug trafficking investigation.

Winnipeg police say the Guns & Gangs Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the first hundred block of Amy Street and a nearby parked vehicle on Waterfront Drive.

When officers arrived, two people ran from the vehicle and threw away what was believed to be illicit drugs. Officers were able to quickly track them down and take them into custody.

Several items, including drugs and cash, were seized from both the car and vehicle, including approximately 650 grams of cocaine, approximately 300 grams of methamphetamine, drug packaging and $230 in Canadian currency.

A 46-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman face a long list of charges. The female was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code. The 46-year-old man remains in custody.
