The 2024 Masters Tournament's new champion is using his win to point to Jesus.

At 27 years old, American Scottie Scheffler took the top spot at the Masters tournament, a contest that decides the best golfer in the world. Ludvig Åberg from Sweden took the second spot, four strokes behind.

"I believe that today's plans were already laid out many years ago, and I could do nothing to mess up those plans," Scheffler said during the Masters post-tournament conference. "I have been given a gift of this talent, and I use it for God's glory. That's pretty much it."

Scheffler shared vulnerably during the post-tournament conference, opening up about how important winning had become to him. He then said that when he reached out to his friends about this on the final day, they reminded him that his 'victory was secure on the cross.'

"Golf is something that I do. It is a tremendously huge part of my life, but it doesn't define me as a person. I happen to be good at it some weeks and the next week I'm bad at it. I'm a faithful guy. I believe in a Creator. I believe in Jesus. Ultimately, I think that's what defines me the most."

This is Scheffler's second time winning the Masters after his first win in 2022. His wife Meredith, who is expecting their first child, prays for him regularly to experience God's peace on and off the green.

"Right now, the most exciting thing is not winning the Masters, it's (the) baby coming pretty soon," said Scheffler.
