A Winnipeg man is using his gardening skills and a call from God, to give back to the community.

Gardening has always been a passion for this Winnipegger, but after God spoke to him, he decided to take it to the next step.

"I was always a gardener. At one point, I was going to try and sell some at the farmers market, but while in my garden one day, I thought, I don't have time for that," said the man. "That's when God put it on my heart to go and donate them instead."

This avid gardener now needs a larger garden plot to make this possible.

"I am looking for a spot close to the city, if not in the city," said the man. "I want to triple what I usually do, and I was looking for approximately 8000-10,000 square feet."

The plan is to grow potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, beans, beets, lettuce, carrots, zucchini and peppers.

He hopes to donate the vegetables to ministries such as Union Gospel Mission and Teen Challenge.

"Any ministry that tells people about Jesus," said the man.
