CHVN has started a partnership with Child Care International.

A Canadian Christian ministry is bringing real change on earth and in eternity with its sponsorships of children in developing countries.

Child Care International (CCI) is based out of Surrey, B.C. and cares for children in 10 different countries around the world.

This week's child looking for sponsorship is Judy Wangui from Kenya. She lives NorthWest of Nairobi in the Munyu Village.

Wangui is 12 years old, loves to read, and likes the colour purple. Right now she is attending the Wisdom Junior Primary School where her favourite subject is English. She hopes to become an engineer in the future, and through a monthly sponsorship, this can become a reality for her.

"Our organization helps children achieve their dreams, their full potential, by providing Christian education in many countries around the world. They learn not only academic subjects but also learn about the Lord," says Jose Prem, the Executive Director of CCI.

CCI has been helping sponsor children in Kenya for over 25 years. Kenya's population is 53 million people, and of that, over 35 per cent are living below the poverty line.

As many families are struggling financially, challenges that come from poverty include not being able to feed children, let alone send them to school. They also face limited access to water, healthcare, as well as facing dangers such as violence against children, child labour, exploitation, and female genital mutilation.

Through CCI, for $40/month, children face a brighter future. Not only for themselves but for their families and eventually their entire community. They also learn about the saving grace of Jesus Christ, through Christian education.

To sponsor 12-year-old Wangui, please call Sylvia St.Cyr between 3:00 - 6:00 pm weekdays at the CHVN station. The number is 1-877-951-2486.
