A local singer and ministry leader is sharing some Christmas music online as well as in person this weekend. 

In the past year, Kelly Wiens wrote and released a seven-song EP titled I Worship You.

"It was released on all the platforms in June," says Wiens. "I didn't put a whole lot of effort in sharing it with the world as the big agenda this year seemed to be rooting and planting ourselves as a family in Winnipeg."

The family moved from Saskatchewan and bought a house in the city on July 1.

"I released a single called 'King of All Creation' that we recorded with Fresh IE last Christmas. This is this year's song from Firerunner music."

As the song is meant as a form of worship, Wiens has included chord charts for churches on his website. This song was written by Wiens back in 2003 for a compilation album. 

"It really tells the story of the wise men and shepherds coming to discover the king and worship him. That's really the story of the song."

Upcoming Event

Wiens alongside his sister Sonya Braun will be performing a Christmas concert on Sunday, December 18. The doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7.

"We're doing a special night at Trinity Baptist," says Braun. "In November we were talking, and I said, 'We should do a Christmas concert.'"

There will be a freewill offering during the event that will benefit Bright Light Ministry in Uganda. It will also have treats and snacks for the listeners. 

"We wanted to create a Christmas experience. I have so many international friends and I wanted to have something I could invite them to, to experience Christmas."
