A Winnipeg massage business on Notre Dame Avenue is being investigated by police after allegations of sexual exploitation.

Winnipeg Police say the investigation was launched into a massage business near the Health Sciences Centre by the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) Counter Exploitation Unit on De. 19, 2019.

Past and current employees of the business provided evidence to police, and investigators obtained a search warrant for the business on Jan. 26, 2020.

The warrant was executed by WPS officers on Tuesday.

As a result, WPS arrested a 48-year-old man and a 41-year-old female.

Both the man and the woman have been charged with three counts of Material Benefit from Sexual Services, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, and four counts of Procuring a Person to Provide Sexual Services.

The man and the woman have both been released on a Promise to Appear.

WPS request anyone who feels they may have been a victim of this type of exploitation to contact police or crime stoppers by calling 204-786-8477

Police also encourage members of the public to seek out massage therapists who are registered in Manitoba through the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba prior to booking an appointment.
