On Sunday afternoon, at approximately 4:30, the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to the report of a person struck by a train at the tracks behind the 2400 block of Pembina Highway.

The Winnipeg Fire and Ambulance Service was on the scene to provide emergency medical care to a 16-year-old male who sustained life-altering injuries. The teen was transported to the hospital in critical condition before being upgraded to stable conditions. Family notifications have been made.

The incident appears to be accidental as WPS and C.N. Police continue to investigate.

A reminder to the public to exercise extreme caution around active rail lines.
