A 50-year-old Winnipeg man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. 

Previously, on April 26 the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) were called to the 600 block of Flora Avenue where they found a man who had been shot. The man was identified as 28-year-old Bill Brian Duck, who later that day succumb to his injuries. 

On May 6, North District officers were patrolling near McGregor Street and Magnus Avenue when they witnessed a pick-up truck suddenly make an evasive turn in front of them. 

Suspicious, the WPS followed the vehicle to Burrows and Parr. The truck stopped and a male got out and started running. 

The police chased him and quickly apprehended 50-year-old Adam Joseph Morrissette as the main suspect in the murder investigation of Duck. 

Morrisette was arrested on the strength of a warrant for Second Degree Murder at the scene. He also had some drugs on his person, and the police became aware that the truck Morrissette was driving was stolen. 

According to the police report, Morrissette has been charged with the following:

  • Warrant: Second Degree Murder
  • Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance x 2

At this time it is not believed that the accused and the deceased knew one another.
