An 18-year-old man is in custody after assaulting a few Winnipeg police officers.

At around 3 p.m. on Sunday, police were called to a home in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue for the report of family trouble with an intoxicated man.

When officers arrived, they found the man, agitated and intoxicated, fighting with a family member. While police attempted to separate the two, the man confronted the officers as they approached. While trying to gain control of the man, he proceeded to assault them. He managed to disarm one officer of their taser and bit two of the officers in the upper body while also threatening to kill them.

Officers were able to gain control of the male and placed him under arrest; however, three officers sustained injuries during the incident. Two officers of the officers went to the hospital to receive treatment.

The intoxicated man was also transported to hospital where he was sedated. He was eventually cleared by hospital staff and taken into custody.

The 18-year-old male faces several charges.

He remains in custody.
