Severe Thunderstorm watch in effect Thursday afternoon
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for southeastern Manitoba, including the eastern edge of Winnipeg. According to EC, a cold front tracking through southeastern Manitoba will trigger scattered thunderstorms this afternoon, some of which could become severe. These storms could produce strong winds, torrential downpours of rain which can cause flash flooding, alongside hail. These combined can cause damage to roofs, buildings, and vehicles. It is suggested that items that can be moved indoors should be so as not to fly up with wind gusts and damage property. Thunderstorm conditions can also make driving difficult, as the heavy downfall can cause reduce or limited visibility. If people hear thunder, the safest place to be is indoors or in a vehicle.
