A 25-year-old woman is in custody after jacking a food delivery car at knifepoint.

On November 5, 2019, at approximately 11:20 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police service responded to the 300 block of Sherbrook Street for the report of a carjacking.

Police say, "An online food delivery driver had been in the process of making a delivery when he was approached by a female and had his vehicle taken at knifepoint."

Nearly 20 minutes later, a K9 unit in the area of Dufferin Avenue and Parr Street observed the stolen vehicle being driven by a female.

The K9 Unit and General Patrol members pursued the car until it stopped in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue.

Police attempted to take the occupants of the vehicle into custody, but the driver put the car into drive and dragged a K9 officer a short distance before managing to flee.

"The officer was not injured significantly," police say.

A second pursuit ensued and came to an end when the female driver abandoned the stolen vehicle in the 300 block of Powers Street and fled on foot.

She was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. A male passenger also fled.

The female driver has been charged with Robbery, Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer, Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, two counts of Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking by Judge/Justice, Fail to Comply with Probation Order, and Driving without licence or with invalid licence in violation of the Highway Traffic Act.

She was detained in custody.
