It's that time of year again. Spring cleaning reveals items you don't need, so over the weekend, the City is encouraging you to put it on the curb.

Winnipegger's will be able to take advantage of this year's spring giveaway weekend. On May 12 and 13, unwanted items can be placed on your curb and labelled as free for anyone to take.

If you are planning on participating, whether through giving away items, picking them up, or both, the City of Winnipeg says:

  • place all unwanted items at the curb on your front street
  • label each item with a FREE sticker or sign
  • store items that you do not want to give away out of sight
  • don't walk on private lawns or gardens
  • obey all traffic laws
  • watch out for children

You must remove any leftover items by dusk on Sunday.

Giveaway items can include books, CD's, furniture, electronics, sports equipment, construction material and more. However, you cannot put items that could be unsafe, items with bed bugs, or toilets with a 13 litre or higher flush volume on the curb.
