Authorities say a man with an axe tried to steal a pizza that was in the process of being delivered.

On Thursday night at 8 p.m., a driver delivering a pizza in the 400 block of Stradbrook Avenue was approached by a man. The suspect then brandished an axe, demanding the pizza.

The fleeing driver got a short distance before finding safety. He was not hurt.

The Winnipeg Police Service is reaching out to the public for help, asking those with information to call their Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
