This week a large donation was given to the University of Manitoba to support women wanting to practice leadership in the medical field.
The Winnipeg Foundation created the Martha Donovan Fund in partnership with the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. The award was created to give leadership development opportunities for women in the program. The recent million-dollar donation allows the program to continue.
The fund was created to give both students and faculty members the opportunity to train as leaders in the medical industry. The fund is available for nursing, dentistry, pharmaceutical and medical students and faculty at the U of M.
The Martha Donovan Fund was only worth $250,000 with a $50,000 a year maximum when it was first created. It originally would have expired after five years, but the new funds allow the program to continue.
We're excited to have announced a $1 million grant to @UM_RadyFHS to support the Rady Innovation Fund, along with an additional $250,000 over the next 5 years to help advance the careers of women in medicine through The Martha Donovan Fund:https://t.co/eNU9ttLobz #Winnipeg pic.twitter.com/LCSu3SAtj1
