The City of Winkler is declaring a day of prayer in light of COVID-19.

The community of nearly 13,000 is asked on Sunday, March 29 to not only pray for the protection and physical health of the region, but the emotional and spiritual well-being.

"Prayer also means we are responsible to take action," Winkler Mayor Martin Harder says. "Which includes abiding by the Law of the land, and following the measures of protection demanded of us."

He also encourages residents to continue to be willing to demonstrate kindness, patience and generosity, while remaining vigilant in preventing the spread of the deadly virus.

"Let's make a statement and a personal commitment to pray for our community, our Province and our Country, that God will heal our land."
