Environment Canada says that high winds with the potential to cause damage rushed through southern Manitoba Friday evening.

Isolated wind gusts up to 90 km/h accompanied by heavy showers quickly popped up throughout western Manitoba and the southern and western Red River Valley.

Brandon reported a gust to 95 km/h as the cold front and showers moved through.

CHVN listeners said it was "like a monsoon" as the system moved through.
