It appears there will not be a transit strike in Winnipeg.

The City and the Amalgamated Transit Union say they have reached a tentative contract.

The deal is still subject to a union ratification vote that is to begin on September 29th.

There are no details, but union president Aleem Chaudhary says it is fair to both sides. The two sides had been in negotiations for months. Union members had been without a contract since January 12, 2019.

The union represents more than 1,400 transit operators and maintenance workers in Winnipeg and Brandon.
