The Winnipeg Police Service is searching for information regarding its 30th homicide. 

While the connection between a 21-year-old victim and Winnipeg is still unknown, police say this is the service's 30th recorded homicide.

On Wednesday, August 26, police received a report that shots were fired in the area. When arriving to the 800 block of Aberdeen Avenue at 8:45 p.m. authorities discovered a man with gunshot injuries. 

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, which then downgraded to grave condition. At this point, the WPS's Homicide Unit began investigating the shooting.

On Friday, the 21-year-old victim, Mohammed Yonis Ali of Toronto, died from his injuries. 

The Winnipeg Police Service says that investigators are looking for information and ask people to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477) if they know anything about the shooting.
