Major Crimes is investigating after a young woman was robbed in her own yard Sunday night.
A 17 and 18-year-old are facing charges after police say they robbed a woman in her 20s. The Winnipeg Police Service says the woman was in her 800 block of Winnipeg Avenue yard Sunday night when she was approached by a man and a teenage girl. They say the pair then allegedly robbed her at gun and knifepoint.
Arriving at 10:23 p.m., officers found the two suspects nearby, discovering a sawed-off shotgun and a hunting-style knife with them. They also located the woman's stolen property.
Both suspects are being charged with:
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
Additionally, the 17-year-old female is being charged with Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
The 18-year-old man is also being charged with Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x4), Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, and Pointing a Firearm.
Both are in custody.
