A teen from southern Manitoba is recovering in hospital after being struck by a vehicle that left the scene earlier this week.

The Carman RCMP is investigating the hit-and-run, which took place Wednesday evening in Gretna.

Around 10:30 p.m. RCMP say they were notified of a 16-year-old girl found seriously injured by her friends after they went looking for her when she didn't return from a run. Officers attended the scene on Pieper Avenue where they say it became apparent a vehicle/pedestrian collision had taken place.

The girl was transported to hospital where she remains in stable but critical condition.

RCMP continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call the Carman RCMP at 204-745-6760, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.

Gretna is approximately 87 km south of Winnipeg, along the U.S.A. border.
