The Samson's Ball Hockey League at Youth for Christ is holding their annual fundraiser and it has nothing to do with ball hockey.

"It has nothing to do with hockey except that it's a sport," Jamie Wilson joked. Wilson is the director of the SBHL.

"Golf tournaments are really popular, except for those who don't golf," Wilson said. "This golf is a very beginner friendly sport . . . anyone can just pick it up and enjoy it."

Wilson says they have a lot of fun and all the money raised goes towards helping the SBHL continue to run.

The SBHL is a YFC ministry that invites kids from all over the city to play ball hockey as a way of connecting them to a broader community. Teams play games over the winter months with one 'coach' or adult mentor. There is time set aside every game for a God talk.

"I believe sports has a big corelation with our faith," Wilson said. "It takes discipline, it takes hard work, we're a body of Christ just like a team."

If you want to be a part of the annual disc golf tournament, you can put a team of four together and raise money. Wilson says the entry is $400, but that isn't a hard cap. You can call 204-669-4205 to learn more or to sign up your team.
