Students at a Winnipeg elementary school received a special gift last week.

On Friday, Nov. 10, volunteers from FedEx delivered 300 coats to Wellington School, part of a collaboration with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit that manufactures brand-new, high-quality coats and shoes for children in need.

Over 30 FedEx volunteers and school staff organized the coats in the school gym, allowing each student to enjoy a wonderful shopping experience.

The volunteers helped each child get sized and fitted to ensure everyone received a well-fitting coat in their choice of colour.

"The students were delighted to receive such a greatly appreciated gift and were thrilled to see the gym filled with so many warm coats," said the Winnipeg School Division in a social media post.

By the end of December, FedEx will have held over 40+ events at schools across the U.S. and Canada, with deliveries earlier this year to South America in Chile and Argentina to help alleviate the financial burden for low-income families.

FedEx and Operation Warm have provided more than one million coats to children in need since 2008.
