A light snowfall has made for very slippery roads and highways in Winnipeg and southern Manitoba Thursday morning.

The City of Winnipeg has been salting P1 streets to address road conditions and improve traction where conditions warrant since Wednesday afternoon. Most major routes in the city are in good winter driving conditions as a result.

However, side streets throughout the city are very slippery. The City says it's sanding P2 streets as required.

It's recommended to give yourself plenty of stopping distance this morning as everyone adjusts to the snow.

The City said it is also salting and sanding bridges and overpasses as required.

Highways throughout southern Manitoba, including much of the Perimeter Highway, are also snow covered and slippery in areas.
