This weekend we celebrate mother's everywhere, especially the ones who have been struggling.

That's what Naomi Negrych thought when she came up with the idea for an extravagant Mother's Day Tea. She wanted to invite residents at Union Gospel Mission's (UGM) Charis Centre, an addiction recovery centre for women in Winnipeg.

"I had on my heart for a while now to do something special for these women," Negrych said.

The women in the Charis Centre may find Mother's Day difficult, as it's a reminder that they don't have their children anymore due to their addictions. Negrych says that, regardless of their past, we have to love them, just as God loved us.

To make this happen, however, Negrych is looking for a few things. They would love to give each woman flowers and a gift bag. They are expecting 17-20 women. Negrych hopes that people will step up and donate these things.

"It's just something I felt the Holy Spirit leading me to," she said.

The event takes place on Saturday, May 12 at the Charis Centre cafeteria. You can contact Negrych at 204-997-0082 if you want to offer help.
