Linden Christian School and Grant Memorial Church partner annually to provide prayerful support for graduating students.

Today, just weeks before their high school graduation, the senior class of Linden Christian School met with their senior prayer partners for a farewell lunch.

Each year, senior members of Grant Memorial's congretation are partnered with high school seniors from Linden Christian in prayer. These connections act as a way for senior members of the church to care for the graduating seniors through prayer, as well as bond with them personally, sharing wisdom and building intergenerational relationships.

"Many of the seniors pray for their students every day," explained Donna Harper, who has attended Grant Memorial for the past thirty years. Harper has been a part of the senior/senior event since it first began. "When you pray for people, God makes a difference in their lives."

There are two main events each year, with students and seniors connecting once in September and once in June, acting as a positive beginning and end to the student's final year of high school.

Jenna Allison, a member of Linden's graduating class of 2017, is glad she was able to take part in the senior/senior connection. "It's been such a blessing to get to know Mrs. Bell [my prayer partner] this year, and just to get to spend time together and pray together; it's been a real encouragement."

Maureen Bell, who has attended Grant Memorial for the past twelve years, spoke highly of her relationship with Allison. Beyond the two organized school events, Bell and Allison have met on their own several times, enjoying many conversations over lunches and coffee.

"I think I've gotten to know Jenna better than many of the other [student's I've met], because she is such a warm, friendly person... It's a real priviledge to be able to pray for someone like that."

The two plan to continue their friendship, beyond Allison's graduation from Linden.

Elvy Remple, a lifelong attendee of Grant Memorial, is so thankful to have been a part of this event since its conception. "It's a wonderful opportunity for us as part of the church, and such an opportunity for them to be a part of the church."

"We can and we do pray for them."
