A 71-year-old Winnipeg man is dead following a collision Wednesday morning.

Stonewall/Headingley RCMP were called just after 11 a.m. for a report of a collision involving two vehicles and a motorcycle at the intersection of McGillivray Blvd and Loudoun Road, in the RM of MacDonald, just outside of Winnipeg.

The Manitoba RCMP says in a release that officers have determined that a motorcycle, being driven by the 71-year-old, was heading southwest on McGillivray Blvd when a SUV, being driven by an 88-year-old male from Winnipeg and travelling northeast, attempted to make a left hand turn onto Loudoun Road.

The motorcycle struck the turning SUV resulting in the operator being thrown from his bike. The SUV then collided with another SUV that was stopped on Loudoun Road as it was waiting to turn onto McGillivray Blvd.

The 71-year-old, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced deceased on scene. No other injuries were reported.

Stonewall/Headingley RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
