Last week's COVID-19 enforcement officers were kept busy with COVID-19 enforcement but issued significantly fewer warnings and fewer tickets than the week before.

From December 21-27, COVID-19 enforcement officers issued 193 warnings for noncompliance with the Public Health Orders, close to one third fewer instances than the week's previous 283 total warnings.

In total, 58 tickets were issued, with three of those tickets going to businesses for various offences. Forty-four of the tickets were related to gatherings in private residences.

Four of the 58 tickets were for failure to wear a mask in an indoor public space.

In the week previous, a total of 62 tickets were issued, including two businesses and 12 instances of not wearing masks.

The Government of Manitoba is reminding Manitobans that while New Year's Eve is on Friday, gatherings continue to not be allowed at private residences. Those who do not follow the orders could be visited by one of the province's 3,300 personal who has the ability to ticket.

Instead, the province is asking Manitobans to find safe alternatives, including utilizing their Safe At Home programs for New Year celebrations. This included many local group productions that are available to stream for free.
