On Thursday, a fire consumed the men's residence building at Providence University College. The school is already looking to the future.

There were no injuries at Providence when a fire burned down Bergen Hall. Providence has repeatedly said how grateful they are that the fire wasn't any worse. In the aftermath, the staff and students are still in shock.

"It's a building that's been here since the '80s," said Cherry Wiebe, Vice President for Marketing and Communications. "It's a lot of shock but obviously, it's a time of memories and remembering all the good times."

Providence doesn't want to focus on the fire. Instead, they are looking forward to the future.

"I think there is a lot of opportunity for us as an institution," Wiebe said. "We're just really blessed for all the support and all the kind words that have come in over this incident."

A plan is already in place to develop plans for immediate and long-term housing needs.

"We have a number of residences on campus, so there are other places that will most likely have our campers stay," Wiebe said about the sports camps coming soon. "We have our women's dorm, which is a large building as well, and a number of four-plexes."

Providence said they will continue to trust in God's guidance as they plan the next steps.
