A candlelight vigil is being held in Portage la Prairie for a local woman who disappeared 10 years ago.

24-year-old Amber McFarland was last seen by friends at the Cat and Fiddle Nite Club in Portage on October 18th, 2008. Police say security footage from an attached inn shows her leaving with her ex-boyfriend and a male acquaintance.

In 2009, it was confirmed McFarland’s disappearance was being investigated as a homicide. RCMP say in a release today that investigators have worked tirelessly to find answers.

“Don’t assume we know what you know. Every piece of information is valuable. Please get in touch with us. Do it for Amber, for her family, for the community of Portage,” says Sgt. Darrell Catellier in the release.

McFarland had dreams of becoming an interior designer.
