The police are warning drivers, specifically female drivers, about an emerging vehicle repair scam.

The Winnipeg Police Service says they have received word that a suspicious male driver has been flagging over female drivers in an effort to stop them. Once they have stopped, the suspicious male tells them they have mechanical problems on their car and offers to fix them since he has some parts in his car. The male asks for a sum of money to fix the issues immediately.

Drivers who have declined have found no mechanical problems on their car when taken to a certified mechanic shortly after.

The police are asking the public to be cautious about people trying to pull you over and to contact a towing company or mechanical shop if you do have mechanical problems.
