Police are investigating after a 23-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the front steps of a house.

Yesterday morning, Selkirk Avenue between Arlington and McGregor was closed to traffic with police on the scene.

At approximately 9:30 a.m, Winnipeg Police General Patrol Units responded to a call at a Dufferin neighbourhood home. Police received reports of a man on the front steps of a home, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Once arriving, police transported the man to hospital in critical condition. 

The man was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The WPS Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. They are asking anyone with information to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

The Winnipeg Police Service is on scene of what they say is a serious incident, Thursday morning.

Police have not released many details at this time.

However, the WPS says that Selkirk Avenue was closed to all traffic between Arlington and McGregor.

The WPS was asking the public to avoid the area.
