Pastor Andrew Bawa is adding the title of author to his resume. His new book, entitled 'The Journey,' is scheduled to be officially released this weekend.

"Life is a journey," says Bawa. As the pastor of NextGen Worship Centre in Winnipeg, it's safe to say that Bawa would know a thing or two on the topic of journeys, having guided many people along their own, both personally and spiritually.

"A lot of people are looking for someone to tell them what to do... especially with pastors," says Bawa.

"People are running to pastors for the answers rather than their creator."

Likening life to a road trip, Bawa says it's important to know you're heading to the right destination; for Christians, that means becoming in tune with the plans God has for you and the talents he has given you.

"Sometimes, life, it can be frustrating," says the pastor, "even with the most trusted things that you know, you still find that you are headed to a dead end, you are stuck."

Rather than relying on a traditional GPS for our journeys, Bawa recommends a higher-end product: God's Positioning System.

Many people, Bawa says, have come to him, explaining that they are stuck and they don't know where to go with their lives. It is the pastor's hope that this book comes to serve as one way people are able to answer those questions of "where do I go from here?"

It's a question that Bawa himself says he has struggled with, and now is hoping to see others move forward from, into the plans that God has created for each and every one of them.

With surrendering life and purpose to Christ, a key thing will come to each person seeking direction: God's spirit, bringing peace.

"The best way for you to know the leading of God is by having peace, the peace of God."

In everything, seeking God's plan and the peace that comes with knowing you are doing ultimately what he has equipped you to do, says Bawa, is where we can be assured we are following our journey.

"What will you go to do, even if you aren't paid to do it? What excites you?" These are the questions Bawa encourages everyone to answer. The answers may be surprising, but most likely will point you towards a direction God has custom-tailored for you.

"That is what this book is all about."

A book signing will be held at McNally Robinson at Grant Park Mall on Saturday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. for those interested in getting a first look at Pastor Bawa's new book. He will also have copies available for purchase and signing Sunday at NextGen Worship Centre.

'The Journey' is also available online for purchase from Amazon.
