Parents are being reminded once again to be aware of their children's online activity after a recent video on YouTube Kids taught children how to properly die by suicide.

An innocent YouTube Kids video transformed into a how-to on self-harm and suicide shortly before the five-minute-mark, much to the horror of a mother, who has decided to remain anonymous.

The mom had put on the kid's cartoon for her son while she tried to stop his nosebleed. She was astounded when only a few moments into the video, a man known as 'Filthy Frank,' entered the frame and proceeded to provide instructions on how to properly cut one's wrists.

The mother's story was shared by Dr. Free N. Hess, an American pediatrician, to her blog, PediMom. "Not a lot shocks me," the mom stated in her post. "But this did."

"This video was intentionally planted on YouTube Kids to harm our children. He waited until parents’ guards were down, thinking their kids were just watching a harmless cartoon when he made his entrance four minutes and forty-five seconds into this video."

Hess, too, wrote on her blog, alerting parents to the video in question and urging them to report the content so as to have it removed. All videos with the clip in question have since been taken down from the site.

According to ABC News, a YouTube spokesperson ensured viewers that the company continues to work "to ensure the videos in YouTube Kids are family-friendly and take feedback very seriously."

Hess notes that this video was not an isolated incident. A similar video was taken down last year after the pediatrician raised similar alarms, and she notes that many more videos still currently exist on video-sharing platforms that are inappropriate.

Hess posted the video in question to her Twitter. CHVN has elected to not include that clip in this post.
